Calling all tattoo enthusiasts, artists and noobs: If you’re in the market for a tattoo, consider going to Pittsburgh’s annual tattoo convention this weekend dubbed “Meeting of the Marked“, which is celebrating its 20th year in 2012. The event is being held at the Double Tree Hotel in Greentree from October 26 through October 28 and is $15 per day at the door, with children 14 and under for free. There is much to do over the course of three days, including vendors, seminars, contests, gallery exhibitions and some entertainment. Best of all, you can shop around for a new tat! People from the Pittsburgh area and around the country travel to make this event in an effort to seek out their next tattoo artist and a variety of local and nationally-recognized artists will be setting up shop for the weekend. Many of them have waiting lists, but remember, tattoos are permanent so this is not a decision one should take lightly!
For a full breakdown of scheduled events, visit here. All exhibits open at 1PM Friday and noon Saturday and Sunday. All three days end with a “Tattoo of the Day Contest”.
For a full list of participating vendors, which includes almost every local tattoo shop and artists from as far as Portland, Ohio, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Nebraska, visit here.
Lucky the Painproof Man will also be performing daily. If you haven’t seen one of his shows yet, we recommend it. Not for the faint of heart, his style of entertaining is high in shock value and even higher on the pain scale.
A variety of artists and vendors will also be on site, including Zombie Caricatures and Stage AE, who will be giving away tickets and other exclusive offerings.
This highly popular event is a great excuse to get out and research your next tattoo, so if you’ve been considering a new one or are a first-timer, we suggest to add this year’s Meeting of the Marked to your weekend’s agenda!
