Well this is a neat idea, and it’s been pretty hot lately, so why not cool off at The Point this Saturday with a good ol’ fashioned water balloon fight for charity? You might have seen this mentioned on the news recently. We here at NakYouOut are lucky enough to share office space with the organizers at The Beauty Shoppe. This event benefits Team Tassy, an organization founded in Pittsburgh that raises money to help individuals in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. They currently work with about 50 people in the area and are gearing up to scale their efforts so they can increase that number to 3000. They won’t reach their goal without our help!
According to their website, “Health and education are human rights, and by connecting the poor with the resources they need to put themselves to work, we can not only restore family incomes, but dignity. We decided to ask the poor what it was that they needed, and accompany their climb out of poverty rather than dictate it to them. Giving and helping should be a joy, so when we sat down to talk about how to involve the community with what we do, we thought of the craziest, most joyous stuff we could. “Water Balloon Fight” topped the list.”
They’ve teamed up with a few local radio personalities, such as Abby from The X, Randy Baumann from DVE, Mikey, Big Bob and Tall Cathy from KISS. The gates open at 11AM and the fight is at 1PM. Over 3,000 people are estimated to attend with 100,000 water balloons to throw! The schedule for the day is as follows:
Water Balloon Fight Schedule

At the end of the fight, they’ll wring your t-shirt dry. The driest team wins. Simple as that! Bands for the day include:

Registration closes today and is $20 in advance. You can still register the day-of for $30. They recommend choosing one of the radio teams because you’ll get a free t-shirt and it’s more fun that way!
In an effort to remain consistent with their mission of fighting global poverty and being all around good citizens of the world, they’re also minimizing the environmental impact of the event by teaming with Cardinal Resources who use a solar-powered water purification system that uses just sun, sand, and salt to transform river water into fresh, clear, clean, unpolluted water and Thread to recycle as much trash as possible before, during, and after the fight. Way to go guys!
