Chances are you have appreciated the talents of the Attack Theatre dance troupe if you support any level of arts in Pittsburgh. At the very least, you may attend their not to miss annual fundraiser, The Dirty Ball, full of salacious party go-ers and thrilling performances. (We never miss it!)
Well, beginning June 23rd, they launched their first ever 7-day, grassroots microgiving campaign: I ______ Attack Theatre.
Of the 30,000 people that they serve annually through their productions, collaborations, commissions, and arts education and community engagement programs, only about 2% of them are donors.
Upon realizing this devastating number, A.T. thought: Everything we do is participatory and collaborative, so why should giving money be any different?
The category of “donor” is so elusive in so many organizations, that they wanted to take it to the internet, and let all participants of Attack Theatre know that philanthropy is for everyone.
The goal is ambitious:
500 participants. 8 days.
The ask is simple:
$5, $10, $15, $20. Give a little. Because it means a lot.
They are asking fans, friends, and followers to “fill in the blank” (I ______ Attack Theatre), do something different with your $5, and fill in their blank for the end of the fiscal year. They want everyone to know that philanthropy is for everyone.
Pittsburgh IS art. Support it!
